Welcome to Saggart Karate Club OSS!

JKS Ireland is pleased to extend a very warm welcome to Sensei Kieran Mullen and the members of his dojo, Saggart Karate Club as the newest members of the JKS Family here in Ireland.

Sensei Mullen has a long history in Shotokan Karate. He started martial arts training at home as a child with his father, James Mullen, who was one of the original members of the Republic of Ireland Taekwondo Association (RITA). From there, after studying judo for a while, he joined St Marys Shotokan Karate Club in Clondalkin, under Sensei Anto Clarke of the Karate Union of Ireland (KUI) in 1985. Under Sensei Clarkes tuition he developed into a strong Shotokan Karateka and represented his club and country in many national and international events including WESKA and ESKA, winning titles in both kata and kumite events.

Sensei Mullen has trained under many of the top Sensei’s in the world over the past 25 years: Enoeda, Kanazawa, Okazaki, Yaguchi, Kawasoe, Sherry and Brennan to name but a few, and brings this wealth of karate experience to every class he teaches in Saggart Karate Club. He has a deep love of Karate both as an Art and as Budo and continues to train and focus on his own Karate development as well as that of his students.

Dermot O’ Keeffe Sensei, Technical Director of JKS Ireland, said he is delighted to welcome Kieran Sensei and the members of Saggart Karate Club into JKS Ireland and is looking forward to working with all in the near future. He said Kieran Sensei brings with him a lifetime of Karate experience which will add, along with our other Instructors, to the wealth of karate experience and knowledge that the JKS Ireland has to offer students.
