October was a fantastic month for JKS Karate Ireland, filled with top-level competition, technical development, and outstanding performances from our members across the country.

Led by Sensei Dermot O’Keeffe (6th Dan JKS), the JKS Ireland squad proudly represented the organisation at several major events throughout the month, achieving remarkable success on and off the tatami.

The month began with the SKIF Tora-Kan Open Championships in Tipperary, where JKS Ireland competitors demonstrated strong spirit and skill, setting a great tone f

or the weeks ahead.

Next, our athletes competed at the USKF Open Shotokan Cup, continuing to test themselves against a high calibre of opponents and bringing home more impressive results.

We also had the privilege of attending the Takashi Yamaguchi Sensei Seminar in Tyrrellstown, where members trained under the renowned instructor, gaining valuable technical insights and deepening their understanding of Shotokan karate.

To round off an excellent month, JKS Ireland took part in the SKIF Murakami Shield, once again showcasing determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

There was strong club representation throughout October from:

  • JKS North East (Sensei Neil O’Sullivan)

  • JKS Swords (Sensei Dermot O’Keeffe)

  • JKS Tallaght (Sensei Philip Kennedy)

  • JKS Tyrrellstown (Sensei Brian Leahy)

Across all events, JKS Ireland competitors achieved an outstanding medal haul — 21 Gold, 23 Silver, and 49 Bronze medals — in both Kata and Kumite divisions.

As we look ahead, excitement is building for November’s trip to Japan, where members will train and experience karate at its source. The organisation also prepares for our Annual Gradings in November and December, and the final competition of the year — the IWKA League in Ashbourne on 6th of December.

We’re also delighted to announce the launch of our newly updated website — www.jksireland.ie — where you can find the latest news, upcoming events, club information, and more. We encourage all members, parents, and karate enthusiasts to visit and stay connected with everything happening across JKS Ireland.

A sincere thank you goes out to all instructors, students, parents, and supporters for their continued dedication and effort. Together, we continue to strengthen the spirit of JKS Karate Ireland.

OSS.
